Frequently Asked Questions
- What is EPS? Where is it used? EPS is a
rigid, molded, closed-cell foam plastic. It offers superior insulation value
at low cost.
- What EPS products does Foam Plus offer?
- Is EPS "environmentally friendly"? Yes.
No CFCs or even HCFCs are used in producing EPS (the
foam is expanded using pentane gas). If discarded, EPS can be compressed to as little as 1% of its
original size.
- How does EPS compare with polyisocyanurate
insulation? EPS provides about 80% of the insulation value, at about
1/2 the cost of polyiso insulation. This makes EPS approximately 60% the cost
of polyiso on an equivalent insulation basis. Of course, polyiso is only used
in insulation applications; it has no value in EPS's other applications, for
example, in shock absorption. And production of EPS does not harm the
environment.
